In honor of October and all things creepy, we thought we’d put together a list of the most bone-chilling characters from Cartoon Network’s kid’s show, Adventure Time. We use the term “kid’s show” loosely. Pendleton Ward and the other writers must have some seriously deranged minds.
The Deer – Season 3, Episode 15: “No One Can Hear You”
This unearthly stag terrorizes the people of the Candy Kingdom by chasing them down and licking them with a sticky orange adhesive. He then proceeds to drag them into the sewers and stick them to the walls. The moment he pops off his hoof gloves to reveal his human-like deer hands was just completely unnatural
Finn’s Guardian Angel – Season 1, Episode 18: “Dungeon”
An angelic being saves Finn from the Demon Cat, a creature with razor sharp teeth and retractable claws. The guardian angel swoops him up, heals his wounds, and repairs his clothes. How nice! Then she goes Jeffery Dahmer on Finn and dumps him into a boiling hot soup cage. She’s a hideous and deceptive monster, but she also plays a mean xylophone so she can’t be all that bad.
The Earls of Lemongrab – Season 4, Episode 2: “Five Short Graybles”
Lemongrab is hands down the creepiest character in all of The Land of Ooo. To make matters worse, there are two of them. Or, there were two of them. After fighting over their china doll son “Lemon Sweets,” Lemongrab devours his brother in a fit of lemon rage. Casual.
There seems to be a recurring theme in Adventure Time of lemons being absolutely terrifying. All of the lemon children in this episode were creepy malnourished ghouls, but the face-peeling lemon head definitely surpasses them all. Is this what happens to lemon children when they don’t exfoliate? Should’ve had Finn and Jake bring lotion, too.
King Worm – Season 4, Episode 18: “King Worm”
Feeling sleepy? Don’t doze off, or you’ll be trapped in a dream prison with the ever-frightening King of Worms until your life energy is consumed! He just wants a hug, won’t you give him a hug? Nope. Nope. More Nope.
Billy – Season 4, Episode 26: “The Lich”
Did you catch this one? During the beginning of the episode, Finn has a premonition dream where his idol, Billy the legendary hero, can be seen turning into the evil, powerful, and undead Lich for a split second. Don’t blink! Rather, shut your eyes in fear forever.
Marceline – Season 5, Episode 38: “Red Starved”
Marceline the Vampire Queen drinks anything red to satisfy her bloodthirst. Trapped inside of the underground Sand City, Finn and Jake have to tie up their friend to keep her from turning into a crazy feral demon who’ll suck everyone’s blood dry. Wait, do kids actually watch this show? Who lets them watch this!?
The Girl – Season 5, Episode 15: “A Glitch is a Glitch”
Finn and Jake are goofing off on the computer when a brick flies through the window. Attached is a floppy disk with a girl gagging herself with her own hair. Seriously? That’s disgusting. Why is that necessary?
Fun Fact: This was a YouTube video before it was featured on Adventure Time – Check it out here.
Ricardio – Season 5, Episode 21: “The Suitor”
Ricardio, the Ice King’s heart will do anything for love. His idea of love is luring Princess Bubblegum into the Black Ice Caves to force her hand in marriage and cut out her heart – so he can make out with it. Get Hitch up in here, because you need some SERIOUS dating advice Ricardio.
Glob – Season 6, Episode 25: “Astral Plane”
Grob, Gob, Glob, and Grod are a four faced diety that live in a Martian super city. When a mysterious comet (which we later find out is Finn’s Dad’s spaceship) threateningly beelines toward the city, they sacrifice themselves into the oncoming threat in order to save the city they created. Oh my Glob…..Glob is dead. Glob rest his soul. Glob’s not super creepy compared to the rest of this wacky show’s cast or characters, but the fact that the writers sent him on a suicide mission is pretty dark.
